🐜 mostly aggregated. This describes the shape of the order flow — how the accumulation was assembled — not its intent and not its likely outcome. Micro-cap: at $2.18, quotes and EOD data are sparse — treat every reading as low-confidence.

What happened

Watch-level accumulation ahead of the pivotal ResVax readout that failed.

The catalyst: Phase-3 RSV vaccine primary-endpoint miss.

The outcome: 60-day idiosyncratic −88% — a forward idiosyncratic move (beta-stripped vs SPY) over a mature 60-day window. The raw price shown on the chart reached −79%; the two differ because the outcome strips out the market’s beta.

The story behind it

Long before it became a COVID-vaccine name, Novavax was a serial biotech disappointment. In early 2019 it ran into the pivotal Phase-3 readout of ResVax, its RSV vaccine for infants (the 'Prepare' trial). IAS flagged watch-level OTM-put accumulation ahead of the binary.

On January 30, 2019, the trial missed its primary endpoint and the stock lost roughly 70% almost overnight, later doing a reverse split. A clean example of informed positioning into a pass/fail medical event.

Read this honestly

Informed, not privileged
The tape showed accumulation. It cannot prove who traded, what they knew, or why.
Direction was not predicted
IAS called that a large move was coming — magnitude, never which way. Two cases in this library resolved UP; that is the proof.
Ranked by magnitude
The edge is the magnitude estimate — P(large move) — not raw IAS. A high IAS with a low magnitude estimate is unusual but not notable for movement.
Long volatility, not long puts
These names often spike the other way first. The historical behavior looks like long volatility, not a directional put position.
