Biggest Expected Moves This Week
How far the options market is pricing each name to move over the next week — one standard deviation, in either direction, from at-the-money implied volatility. The names at the top are where options are most expensive relative to the stock, which is usually a catalyst nobody has to guess at.

One standard deviation means roughly a two-in-three chance the move lands inside the range, and a one-in-three chance it does not. Derived as ATM implied volatility × √(7/365) from the nearest published tenor. Ranked among the 289 symbols carrying at least 50,000 open contracts and quoting an at-the-money spread inside 10% — without that second filter this page ranks bid-ask width rather than volatility, because a wide quote inflates the vol solved from it.
Quietest names
The other end of the same ranking: where the options market is pricing the least movement over the coming week.
How this list is built
What an expected move is
The options market prices volatility, and volatility converts directly into a distance. A stock at $100 with 26% implied volatility is being priced to move about ±3.6% over a week. That is the number in the second column, and it is what a straddle at the money roughly costs.
It is a range, not a direction
An expected move says nothing about which way. A large one means the market is pricing a wide outcome — which is exactly as consistent with a large fall as a large rise, and is why the number is written with a plus-or-minus.
Why a big number is not automatically a trade
A large expected move usually means options are expensive for a reason the market already knows about. Buying premium into it needs the actual move to beat what is priced, not merely to be large; selling it needs the opposite. The number is the market’s bar, not an opinion about whether it will be cleared.
Why some volatile names are missing
A name only appears here if its at-the-money option quotes a spread inside 10%. Implied volatility is solved from the midpoint, so a wide quote produces a large vol whether or not the market expects a large move — and the error only ever points upward, straight to the top of a list like this one. Genuinely volatile names with untradeable quotes are excluded here and still carry their own page, where the spread is printed beside the number.
Where the volatility comes from
At-the-money implied volatility from the published term structure, taking the tenor nearest one week and nearest one month. The buckets are coarse, so each ticker’s own page names the tenor it priced off rather than implying we hold an exact seven-day quote. Weekly index and ETF moves live on the weekly desk.
