Most Put-Heavy Options Activity

Put contracts traded today for every call contract traded. Above 1.00 means more puts changed hands than calls. Restricted to names with genuine activity on both sides, because a ratio built on a handful of call contracts measures the denominator, not the market.

September 8, 2026 · 864 symbols met the liquidity bar of 50,000 open contracts · showing 100

Ranked among the 373 symbols that traded at least 5,000 call contracts today and carry at least 50,000 open contracts. Without that first floor the top of this list is arithmetic: the highest raw ratio in today’s universe is 250.0, on two call contracts.

The other end: most call-heavy

Same session, same eligibility floor, sorted the other way — names where call volume most outweighed puts today.

How this list is built

What the ratio counts

Today’s put volume divided by today’s call volume, across every strike and expiry. Put/call ratio is the oldest sentiment gauge in options, and the most frequently over-read.

Why put-heavy is not the same as bearish

A bought put and a sold put are opposite trades and both add to put volume. Only about 3.5% of legs print with a visible aggressor, so for the overwhelming majority we cannot tell which side initiated. Heavy put volume is equally consistent with hedging a long position, with someone selling puts to get paid for downside they want, and with an outright bearish bet.

Volume ratio versus open-interest ratio

The volume ratio is one session; the open-interest ratio is the accumulated position. They disagree often, and the disagreement is the interesting part — a name with a high volume ratio and a low OI ratio is having something happen today that its standing positioning does not reflect.

Where the floor comes from

Any ratio explodes when its denominator approaches zero. We require 5,000 call contracts before a name is eligible, which leaves 373 of the 1,721 symbols we publish today. The rest still have their own put/call page; they are just not rankable against each other.
